Week 6 Preview: Tuesday-Friday

TUESDAY
8:00 PM

Marshall (0-4) @ Memphis (1-3)
A weird one to talk about in the wake of Memphis DT Taylor Bradford's death on Sunday. Still, Memphis has been the much more capable team of the two, despite their 1-3 record, as losses to Ole Miss and Arkansas State were easily winnable. They'll be at home, they have the extra inspiration, they should win easy.
My Pick: Memphis
Confidence (out of 5): 3

WEDNESDAY
8:00 PM

Rice (0-4) @ Southern Miss (2-2)
USM's been fairly underwhelming, being a pretty good C-USA team, but not the clearcut top of the pack that was expected. They should look like an upper-tier team here, though, since Rice may be the worst team in I-A.
My Pick: Southern Miss
Confidence: 4

THURSDAY
7:30 PM

Kentucky (5-0) @ #7 South Carolina (4-1)
As much as I've been slagging Kentucky, they actually have a chance due to their offensive firepower. But still, SC should win this. The offense should be able to put up a bunch of points on their own against that suspect UK defense, and SC's veteran defense should at least stop Kentucky enough to wind up winning this one. Plus, Andre' Woodson is probably due for a correction after that huge interceptionless streak.
My Pick: South Carolina
Confidence: 2

FRIDAY
8:00 PM

Utah (2-3) @ Louisville (3-2)
Louisville's offensive firepower wasn't too great against NC State, and that plus the ever-present defensive woes make this a shaky proposition for the Cardinals. I'll still go with them since Utah hasn't really shown much, but the Louisville D is like...that bridge in World 8 of Super Mario Bros. 3. You know, with the hand. Every time you come to it, you know sometimes you're gonna be safe, and sometimes complete doom is going to befall you. And that's the Louisville defense.
My Pick: Louisville
Confidence: 2
